Story of You (SOY) is a personalised astrology reading service. Because a birth chart is calculated from your birth date, time and place, we treat that information with special care. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have over it.
Who we are
SOY — Story of You is the data controller for the personal data processed through this app. You can contact us about anything in this policy at admin@soythe.one.
What we collect
Account details: your email address, name and chosen language.
Birth details: your birth date, birth time and birth city and country. We ask for these because they are required to calculate your natal chart, and we treat them as sensitive information.
Your natal chart: the planetary positions calculated from your birth details, stored so you can revisit your readings.
Your consent record: the date and policy version you accepted, so we can demonstrate your consent.
Why we use it and our legal basis
We process your data to create and run your account, calculate and show your birth chart and readings, and send the emails you expect from us (account confirmation, password recovery, and the note when your reading is ready).
Under GDPR, our legal basis for processing your birth details is your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) and, to the extent birth data could reveal sensitive traits, Article 9(2)(a)). You give this consent with the tick box in your Profile and can withdraw it at any time by unticking it or by deleting your account.
We never sell your data, and we never use it for advertising or profiling beyond your personal reading.
Who processes it
Your data is stored in our cloud database and authentication service, protected by row-level access rules so only you can read your own information.
To calculate your chart, your birth date, time, city and country are sent to the astronomy calculation provider we use. They receive only what is needed to compute the positions — never your name or email.
Transactional emails are sent through our email provider using your email address and first name only.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. If you delete your account from your Profile, your profile, birth details, natal chart and consent records are permanently deleted.
Birth details can be corrected once. After that single correction they are locked, which protects the integrity of your chart and your plan.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, export and delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict processing. Most of this you can do yourself in your Profile; for anything else write to admin@soythe.one and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
Security
Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us. Access to the database is governed by strict per-user rules, and connections are encrypted in transit and at rest.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, let you know by email. The consent record in your Profile always shows the version you accepted.
